On August 15, Chronogram will be hosting its 3rd annual block party in Uptown Kingston. This year the event has two blocks to work with, and has optimized every square-inch of space available.
“Double the space means double the community celebration, and that’s what we’re all about,” says Amara Projansky, Luminary Publishing’s Co-Founder and CEO. “We’re very excited to celebrate the arts, culture, and spirit of what makes the Hudson Valley a great place to be at this year’s Block Party.”
The party’s mainstage block, on Wall Street between John and North Front Streets, will be full to the brim with live music, local food trucks, street performers, an expanded beer and wine garden, and a dunk tank to benefit Ulster County SPCA. Also featured will be a DIY art tent sponsored by Catskill Art and Office Supply, free massages from Buttermilk Inn and Spa, and Broadway Photobooth. New to this year’s block party is an Etsy pop-up market, featuring handmade items from local Etsy shops. The pop-up market will run from 5-9pm on Wall Street between Main and John Streets.
Entertainment includes Simi Stone, Upstate Rubdown, Caroline Rose, and the cast of Shadowland Theatre’s “Woody Guthrie’s American Song.” Other performances are scheduled by multidisciplinary artist and professional party crashers Anna Rexia & Friends, acrobatic hoop-dance duo The Mandaliahs, and a Zumba party led by Class Master.
Of course, food and drink are essential to the success of every block party, and Chronogram is prepared. Food will be provided by Yum Yum Noodle Bar, Arkansas Tom’s Razor Back BBQ, Pippy’s Hot Dog Truck, Black Eyed Suzie’s, and Fleisher’s. At the beer garden, select brews from Lagunitas Brewing Company and Keegan ales will be poured, along with ciders from Awestruck Cider and Yankee Folly.
