Colorful globes will dot the sky for the next three days during the Hudson Valley Hot-Air Balloon Festival. Twenty-five balloons are scheduled to take about 100 flights in Dutchess County throughout the weekend. On Friday and Saturday at 6pm, the balloons will begin their journey from the banks of the Hudson River, just south of Shadows on the Hudson (176 Rinaldi Boulevard). Local non-profit organizations will provide children’s activities for the launches on July 10 and July 11.
Other launch sites include Migliorelli Farm in Tivoli (46 Freeborn Lane) and the Dutchess County Airport in Wappingers Falls (263 New Hackensack Road). The farm will host evening launches, tethered balloon rides, a barbecue, and live music. At the airport, early morning (6am) mass launches are scheduled—of course, breakfast food will be available for purchase.
