With Flynn, the usually jazz-leaning series makes a return to the folk component of its early years, when acts like Dave Van Ronk, Tom Paxton, and Aztec Two-Step performed under the SLMS banner at a local Methodist church meeting hall. Born and raised in the Philadelphia area, Flynn spent a few years as a staff songwriter in Nashville, where he composed tunes for artists like Billy Swan (the Top 40 country hit “Flowers and Rainbows”). He also befriended Kris Kristofferson, who contributed vocals to several Flynn albums, including his newest, The End of the Beginning (Flying Stone Records).
John Flynn will perform as part of the Sugar Loaf Music Series at the Seligman Arts Center in Sugar Loaf, New York, on Sunday, April 6 at 3pm. The event will be hosted by hosted by radio personality Sonny Ochs. Tickets are $25. For more information, visit http://sugarloafmusicseries.com/.
