Last Sunday we discovered the very cute Roosterdoodles Cafe and bakery in Cairo, NY. It was the perfect place to take the kids for breakfast on a cold and gloomy Sunday morning. The funky retro lettering on the exterior made me stop and take a peek. As soon as I walked in, I knew this was our kind of place. It’s a very casual, old fashioned cafe with cupcakes and cakes behind the counter and a blackboard full of of budget-friendly breakfast specials. It is a small place with about 5 or 6 tables. A 40-something couple were enjoyed their breakfast quietly, and two elderly men were sitting by themselves having breakfast.
We ordered 2 cups of coffee, a hot chocolate, a chocolate whoopie cake, a pineapple coconut cupcake and breakfast wrap special. (My husband and I shared the wrap). The cupcake was really good, and had a big glob of vanilla custard in the center of it, with real icing on top. The coffee was really good, and the breakfast wrap of scrambled eggs, bacon, ham, sausage and cheese was very hearty and a good deal for $5.95. The service was very friendly and helpful. Even the bathroom is really nice! We’ll definitely be coming back to Roosterdoodles.
