Pete Seeger

Even at 94, Pete Seeger shows no sign of slowing down any time soon. The folk music-activist icon is always on the go, popping up at events of all kinds in and around the Hudson Valley. Of course I’m always happy to highlight those appearances whenever I have the space, so I’ll use this slot to let you know about Pete’s November 17 appearance at the Towne Crier’s new location in his native Beacon for “The Weavers at 65.”

The program is being held in honor of the 65th anniversary of the singer’s legendary folk group the Weavers. In addition to the man himself, “The Weavers at 65” will feature the tribute group Work o’ the Weavers and many other acts. Proceeds will benefit Pete’s beloved Beacon Scoop Club and its continuing work in maintaining and restoring the environmental educational sloop the Woody Guthrie.
