Instead of waiting until Halloween Eve to buy Halloween costumes, I went to Columbia Costumes in uptown Kingston today to see what they had. I left with something for everyone in my family. It was my first time inside Columbia Costumes. It looks small from the outisde, but it is a big store with a wide selection of costumes. As soon as my husband and I walked in, somebody asked us what we were looking for. We were told to go upstairs for children's costumes. The first floor has theatre make-up, costumes, and wigs. Upstairs you'll find aisles of costumes for toddlers, kids, teens, and grown-ups.
My husband Tom didn't want an entire costume, but found a cool serpent hat. It was $30, but it looks like it will last a a few years at least. I got a cute masquerade feather mask, and found 2 cute accessories I needed for the kids. I noticed the wide selection of costume wigs and regular wigs as I was leaving. I found out that women who are undergoing chemo come here for wigs, and can try them on in their private dressing room.
Halloween is their busiest time of year, but Columbia Costumes is open-year round for your costume/party/wig needs. They also have all kinds of costume rentals too! Go check them out!
