Last Sunday, my husband and I went out for an early family date night Sunday dinner at Hickory BBQ Smokehouse on Route 28 in Kingston. I usually go for the vegetable and smoked Gouda wrap here, but I was feeling more adventurous, so I ordered the blackened tuna special which comes with two sides. I chose sweet potato and green beans. We started our meal with the Brunswick stew appetizer special. I have never heard of the southern dish, but I'm always game to try new dishes. It was delicious, and it was served over mashed potatoes. I've been trying to avoid white potatoes lately, but when they are this good, I can't resist. Fortunately, my daughter liked it too so we shared it. For his entree, Tom ordered the 48-hour slow cooked barbecue free-range chicken. It's half a chicken so it is a very filling meal. Warning: All meals come with a big basket of biscuits and cornbread too! It was delicious! Hickory BBQ Smokehouse also offers off-site catering.
