I stopped by Outdated Café in uptown Kingston during the holidays last year, but I had never sat down to enjoy a meal here until recently when I sat down to have a breakfast meeting with Brian Mahoney, editor of Chronogram, and assistant editor Jennifer Gutman. Outdated Café serves good coffee in kitschy mugs, which is a nice comfort-of-home touch. I ordered the eggs over cooked greens, and Brian ordered huevos rancheros. (Jennifer joined us for coffee as we were finishing our breakfasts.)
My eggs were scrumptious, and I was extra pleased to find a Paleo dish on the menu as I have been following the Whole 30 eating approach this month. (I'm on Day 11 of no grains, sugar, dairy, or legumes, and my body feels like it is finally accepting this new regime. To read more about this, check out "It Starts With Food" by Melissa and Dallas Hartwig. I will write about my results in a future blog post when I complete my Paleo-inspired experiment later in July. Wish me luck!)
If you go to Outdated Cafe, remember to go downstairs and check out their vintage shop. I will definitely be returning to Outdated Cafe in the future for more Paleo breakfasts, and maybe a home-baked muffin or two.
