David Thomson/He His Own Mythical Beast

Entangled as we are with the idea of freedom, desire and identity, we create myths that transport, transform and solidify the world around us. A performance installation centered around Venus, a personification of the fierce, elusive heart of the contradictions inherent in race, gender and sexuality in American society—part beast, part myth, part clown; discomfiting, intriguing, comforting, funny, and sad. David Thomson has been a collaborative artist in the fields of music, dance, theater and performance with a wide range of artists including Trisha Brown, Meg Stuart, Marina Abramović, Yvonne Rainer and Ralph Lemon.
