The country's oldest music and environmental festival returns for a weekend on the banks of the Hudson. Founded by musician and activist Pete Seeger and his wife Toshi Seeger, this year's event marks the first Clearwater Festival since their recent passings with celebratory performances from Lucinda Williams, Norah Jones and her new band Puss N Boots, singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright, country/swing band The Mavericks, legendary guitarist and singer Richard Thompson and an acoustic set from jam band moe.
Supporting a variety of worthy causes, this world-renowned gathering also offers a number of family-oriented activities, environmental education, a working waterfront with small boat exhibits and rides, and an artisanal food and farm market. Joining the performance lineup are Martin Sexton, Josh Ritter, Dar Williams, David Bromberg’s Big Band, ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro, Buckwheat Zydeco, soul diva Bettye LaVette, Lake Street Dive, Congolese Salsa great Ricardo Lemvo, children’s music artist Laurie Berkner and more.
