Ever wanted to follow in the footsteps of Vulcan, god of blacksmithing? Head on down to the Orange County hamlet of Florida and check in with the folks at the Center for Metal Arts. This month on ArtScene, we spend an afternoon with the artisans and gifted amateurs wielding hammer and tongs in an exploration of the design possibilities of hot metal.

Kate Hamilton has been studying and practicing the language of clothes for years, as a hat maker, costumer, and artist. She creates otherwordly clothes of mythic dimensions for her recent installation "It's a Big World in There," at the Church Space in Rosendale.

The story of the Videofreex begins at the Woodstock Festival of 1969, where Parry Teasdale met fellow videographer David Cort. They founded a video commune in Greene County in 1971 and launched the first pirate TV station in the US.

When we hired Franco Vogt to photograph our spring fashion shoot, little did we know that he would capture an image we just had to put on the cover.
